What is webcasting?

Webcasting is the streaming of events over the web to be watched in any web browser, live or on demand at a later date.

What benefits does webcasting offer?

Webcasting offers many advantages to enhance your event including:

  • Allow a greater number of people to experience your event who may otherwise have been unable to attend - whether down to distance, diary conflicts or simply physical space at your venue.
  • Enable delegates to review specific discussions or points of interest, post-event
  • Seamlessly host multi-site events with delegates attending the venue most convenient to them
  • Create event archives

Webcasting also offers additional revenue opportunities from areas including individual event access subscriptions, online branding reinforcement or as sample content to promote future events.

How does webcasting work?

There are two sides to webcasting – creating and viewing – each with their own options.

Creating

The event - or specific presentation(s) within your event – are filmed with the video, audio and slides (if any were used) synched, encoded and streamed instantly over the internet.

Viewing

Whether by invitation only or open to all, your event can then be viewed in any web browser, live or on demand at a later date, with video, audio and slides all appearing in synch.

How much does webcasting cost?

To film and encode a one day event starts at £1465 including 12 months hosting on demand.

To webcast the same event live for up to 250 simultaneous viewers would increase the cost to £2415, and to webcast the event live AND on demand would start at £2915. Because of the range of options available, it is difficult to present individual prices that cover every option at every type of event. You may for example only want to have capacity for 50 simultaneous viewers which would bring the cost down, or you may be holding a round table discussion that would require a greater number of cameras and operators which would increase the cost.
